The MSHS technological platforms aim to support research activities by providing engineering project and technical means. They are primarily meant for programmes carried out by the MSHS, then for programmes of the internal laboratories and then to others (University of Poitiers, MSH or other public and private claimants).
The platforms maintain frequent relationships with science laboratories for engineering.
There are three platforms, each of them corresponding to a line of research of the MSHS scientific project (but not exclusively):
Analysis of human behaviour in real time (Theme 1 “Language and Cognition: Corpus, Behaviour and Education”).
This platform is dedicated to the measurement of (physiological, motor, perceptual) changes in behaviour involved in cognitive activities. It can include activities linked to language (writing, reading, hearing and speaking) or perceptual-motor activities (score, reproduction of movement, tactile recognition etc.). Fields of study are numerous: attention, memory, learning, aging, decision making, functioning of language, among others. The relevant academic disciplines are psychology, physiology, sports science, neuroscience, linguistics.
Geomatics (Theme 2 and Theme 3 “Markets, Consumer Cultures and Migrations”)
This (very recent) platform is dedicated to the tools and methods to acquire, represent, analyse and integrate geographic data. This comes through three distinct activities: data collection, processing and distribution. There are many and various disciplines involved: human geography but also economics, sociology, archaeology, history, urban planning etc.
Scanning ‘paper’ and audio documents (Theme 3 “Humanities, Culture and Heritage”)
This platform is dedicated to the digitization of written, oral and drawn documents. The objective is both to preserve and make possible the use of digital tools (processing, indexing, shares etc.). All disciplines are potentially concerned: geography (field photos, maps etc.), history, anthropology (recordings, photos etc.)…
