The 11th edition of the International Child and Teen Consumption (CTC) Conference took place in Toronto from October 16 to 18, 2024. It was organized by Natalie Coulter, a member of the steering committee and a professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at York University. Under the theme “Playing with Borders,” the event explored the shifting boundaries between younger generations, consumer cultures, media, and the digital world.

One of the key highlights was a special roundtable celebrating the 20th anniversary of the CTC. Valérie-Inés de La Ville, the founder of this research community, reflected on the evolution of the field since the inaugural conference in Angoulême in 2004.

As a tribute to the remarkable efforts of the organizing team, Inés presented Natalie Coulter and her team with the Olympic mascot PHYRGE 🐾, symbolizing a fictional yet well-deserved discipline: Scientific Conference Organizing (SCO). This humorous gesture added a light-hearted touch, celebrating the dedication and hard work behind the success of the event.
